Scholastic Book Fair

Coming Back TBA

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings kids the books they want to read. We'll receive a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level, and all purchases benefit our school!
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits.

Please come to our book fair and help shape your child's reading habits.
See you at the book fair!

Staton STEAM Readers Reading Program

This year our school will be doing a Staton STEAM Readers

reading program. The program is designed for students to

keep track of their own reading minutes on a Staton STEAM

Readers bookmark for their chance to win prizes.

Bookmarks are turned into the school library when they are

finished. Our school will have a raffle at the end of each month starting at the end of September. Check your child's backpack for their Staton STEAM Reader bookmarks.

Accelerated Reader & Lexile

Books are measured in many ways, but two popular ways are Accelerated Reader (AR) level and Lexile level. Staton uses standardized testing which gives your child a Lexile reading measure. A Lexile reading measure can range from below 0L for early readers to above 2000L for advanced readers. Readers who score below 0L receive a BR for Beginning Reader. If you don’t know your child’s Lexile reader measure, ask their teacher.

*Although Staton does not currently participate in Battle of the Books; America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. Students participate annually and the book selection changes yearly. Check out the latest recommend reading at: https://www.battleofthebooks.org/

**Also to be noted Nevada/CCSD has their own Battle of the Books, however, it does not look to be taking place during the 2020-21 school year.
