Mrs. Iverson After a life of traveling in the US, Scotland and Belgium, I settled in Las Vegas after marrying an awesome local guy. We have been married for 33 years and have three children, two grandchildren and a cat. We all get together with my sweet mother & father-in-law at least once a week for Sunday dinner. I get to visit my family in Colorado or Kansas quite a bit. I enjoy sunny hikes in the mountains and floating in my pool while watching dragonflies, hummingbirds, and other wildlife in my yard. In my free time I watch interior design shows, read (especially historical fiction) and play video games on my phone. I have been a teacher throughout my life at home, church, in cosmetology school, as a Cub Scout leader, and an instructional assistant to a resource teacher; all before getting my teaching degree from UNLV. I enjoy working with all kinds of people with various abilities. It is especially gratifying to me to help children learn to read as I feel it is vital. Reading opens a whole new world to students which impacts their future. I love teaching math and writing as well. We have a great special ed team at Staton ES and I am proud to be a part of this school! Close Favorite Things favorite things

Mrs. Hudgins My name is Barbara Hudgins and I am very pleased to begin my 15th year working at Staton. My husband, Wilson, and I have lived in Summerlin for 20 years and have two sons named Andrew and Matt. Andrew earned his degree in Sports Management and works for the Oakland A’s. Matt graduated from West Point and serves as an officer in the U.S. Army. Both began their education at Staton Elementary – Pioneer Proud! I enjoy baking, watching baseball, hiking, creative projects, reading and trips to visit family. The Early Childhood classroom is a very special place and I am excited to continue working as an SPTA with our youngest students. It brings me great joy to help the children develop an early and lifelong love of learning. Close Favorite Things favorite things

Mrs. Voyles Hello, my name is Laura Voyles and I love working as a CTT at Staton Elementary! I am a native of Jackson Hole, Wyoming but moved to Las Vegas in 1989 right after getting married. I graduated from UNLV with a degree in Social Work and worked in my field for three years before deciding to stay home full time with our children. My husband and I have four children, all of which attended Staton Elementary. In 2012, when my youngest was in third grade, I began substituting for the district and in 2013 began working as a CTT. Working with small groups has been so rewarding! Not only do I get the opportunity to help students improve academically, I am able to support them in other areas as well. I try to build their confidence by helping them recognize their unique qualities and talents. I encourage them to use their special skills to make a difference in the world--no matter how small. I feel very grateful to be surrounded by outstanding teachers and supportive administration who have guided and taught me through the years. Staton is truly a wonderful school! Mrs. Mendoza My Name is Angelica Mendoza and I am a SPTA II. I was born and raised in Mexico. I studied accounting in my college years. I grew up playing softball all throughout my childhood. I have been married for almost 32 years now with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. I love doing physical activities such as hiking, biking, fitness training and riding my motorcycle. I've worked for the school district for almost 20 years now and I still love it. My favorite quote is, "When you break the shell of the ego, you wake up with something much much bigger than you!".
